Official says govt monitors food prices to outline econ measures
MOSCOW, Mar 11 (PRIME) -- The food price monitoring will allow the Russian government to cooperate with business in prevention of global price growth effect on the local market, Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov said Thursday.
"We need the monitoring system to cooperate with the business predictably with economic mechanisms, economic measures, and to make decisions so that foreign inflation, this is the key issue, imported inflation, inflation of global prices, especially for food… does not affect the local market and does not hit the people's income," Reshetnikov said.
The official said that economic mechanisms require time for calculation, hence the practice of monitoring.
